With companies such as Uber, UberEATS, Lyft, DoorDash, you can produce passive income by setting up a website and driving people to your site so that they can sign up under your referral link.

You absolutely need a referral website if you want to make money without relying on driving your car.

In this article I will just break down what The Simple Driver discusses in his video.

There is a lot of money in creating a referral website. When driving to trade miles and time for money, your income is very limited. If you have a referral website with Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, UberEATS, and other companies, you can make money without being behind the wheel. You have to look at it like a business owner, seeking multiple streams of income.

By having a referral website, you can take your income from $3000 a month, up to $4000-$5000. Some people are generating more than $10,000 a month, and even hiring other people to run their blogs. Such as “therideshareguy” on youtube.

You can drive traffic to your website with either paid of free traffic.

  1. The traditional way of advertising includes television, billboards, magazines, word of mouth, radio, newspaper. Many of these options will require payment to the people publishing your advertisement. It is very expensive to do it the traditional way. It is typically “paid traffic”. Not many people pay attention to paid traffic anymore. Paid traffic is very expensive.
  2.  Free traffic is actually much more powerful, and more accessible. Nowadays you have access to many sources of free advertising. The Millennial way of advertising includes Youtube, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Podcasts, WordPress, etc. Social media is typically a free way to spread a message.

Youtube is your most powerful tool, create a channel if you really want to spread a message about your brand.

Calvin talks about how magazines make their money by charging advertisers for space on their magazine. Magazines may have millions of subscribers but that’s not really how they make the bulk of their money. They charge people for space on their magazines.

It’s something called “Sponsoring”.

If you have a Youtube channel with several thousands of subscribers, you may have people approaching you to advertise their product, brand, or service. Let’s say you have 50,000 subscribers on Youtube. You would easily be able to make money from sponsors who would like to spread a message to your audience.

The point is that an audience is authority. You hold a lot of value if you have a large audience, and people are willing to PAY to send a message to your audience. If you can send a message to your audience that can benefit them, you can help yourself!

Instagram and Pinterest are platforms that are very similar to billboard advertising. The reason why is because these platforms are picture oriented.

Similar to billboard advertising, Instagram uses photos to spread a message to the consumer or viewer of the post. These are two social media platforms which can be used to reach customers in the same way that billboards used to. You have to follow where people’s eyes are going.

Nowadays, the attention is focused on your phone. Think about how powerful it is that you can publish photos as many times as you would like, for free.

You are better off creating an Instagram page for absolutely free, than to pay for billboard advertisements. You will engage more people, and more people will see your message.

As long as you have an audience to advertise to, you will be able to spread your message to thousands, as long as people are paying their attention to your profile.

Having followers, readers, subscribers, or viewers means that you have authority. People will listen to you because you are providing value to their life.

One of the most powerful ways to spread a message is through word of mouth.

People recommend different things such as movies, restaurants, or other products that could benefit their friend’s life, through word of mouth. If you think about the last time you saw a movie, maybe you heard about it from a friend.

Today, word of mouth is now possible through social media. By simply posting a photo of yourself at a restaurant and listing the name of the restaurant, you are spreading the word of the restaurant by telling your friends about the place through social media. It’s much easier to communicate to your family and friends when sharing your favorite movie or restaurant. All you have to do is take a photo, write a description, and maybe publish your post on Facebook, Snapchat, or Instagram!

Radio used to be a very popular place to buy advertising time. You can still pay to advertise your product or service on the radiostation, but now there are other ways to listen to music or talk shows.

Radio has been taken over by Podcasts through iTunes, YoutubeSoundcloud. These are both huge for talk shows and music. Creating a podcast is a great way to promote your website and monetize your business by allowing sponsors to share their message through your talk show.

People who are in their cars don’t really listen to FM radio stations anymore. Podcasts have become huge, and are more popular today.

Next would have to be the Newspaper, which is replaced by something called WordPress. A blogging platform that people use to write articles. You can create your WordPress blog by getting hosting from BlueHostbluehost ad

Now instead of your local newspaper, you can publish your own articles on your own website, and people will read it if you can drive traffic to it.

New York Times actually now has a website which they allow people to subscribe to their blog for premium content.

Everything that you create on social media can be used to funnel your traffic to your WordPress blog.

Your job is to create excellent content, take the traffic that you get from your social media, and drive them to your website, and convert them into customers or refer them to valuable products and services that can help them improve their life. You can monetize your website by signing up for affiliate programs or partnerships with companies who will pay you to recruit drivers, or even promote products and services.

These social media platforms, including Youtube, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter, will PAY for your bandwidth. No matter how many people see your video, picture, or listen to your podcast, you don’t have to pay for anything! It’s completely free to upload your content on social media.

The most powerful tool that you can have for your business is your phone. You can run all of your social media, from your phone.

What kind of content should you create? Content that you feel comfortable making, that provides value to your viewers. Do your best to help others, and you can help yourself.

The key to running a successful social media channel, is to create content that people are searching for. Solve a burning problem that people may have. Lastly, be very consistent with publishing new articles, videos, and photos.
